Week 13 Review

I have yet to watch Fantastic Beast but I enjoyed looking into the Mythology section on Nov 27ths Daily Annoucements. I found it pretty cool to see what diferent creatures have in common through the mixed colors in the sphere.

Tech Tip Week 13: Canvas Profile

I love that you can change your display name on Canvas. As soon as I got it, I took my middle name out. I find this a great way for people to recognize others, expecially those who go by different names. I also added a picture to my profile so that people can see who I actually am.

Week 13 Reading Notes Part B

I really enjoyed the story of the quarrelsome quails. This story was similar to others, which I found to have a theme that “all for one” instead this was more of a “one for all” story. In the end all the quails could have stuck together and could have tried getting the two quails that started to fight to stop but instead they let them be and left for their own safety. I feel that this isn’t selfish since it was at their own will they stay, and they caused other quail to die. I feel I could write a story about a great storm approaching a town. The town itself could be very popular and filled with amazing treasures, this making it very valuable. I could also make it just a neighborhood that is really old that is getting bought out by the government to make new roads. Either way there could be an old man who is stubborn and doesn’t want to leave his property. This representing the birds who decided to stay and fight. Though the mans reasoning could be valid that his property has been in his family for generations, I could still emphasize the stubbornness that the quails had for keep the fight going. In the end he could loose all that he had and have no where to go to since he didn’t plan ahead and buy new property, in a way feel helpless like the quails who were caught by the net in the end.

I don’t have a story line thought out about the elephant monkey, but liked this story more. The point when the elephant blamed Nature for the monkey’s actions was eye opening.

The story of the Golden bird and the king was interesting. The relation to time and material objects was a bit confusing.

Reading Notes Week 13

Taking a switch on my readings, I decided to try the children’s novels. I truly liked the story of The Young Parent. In a sense it reminded me of me. In the story a parrot is raised by his parents to be a caring fellow. When the parents become weak, the young parrot then goes on to take care of them. I don’t want to write a story based on my own actions but I feel there are plenty of children out there who do the same for their parents. I feel this could be told in the general story that at the age of sixteen a boy/girl goes in search for a job. Then works to make enough money to not only sustain themselves but also repay their parents for all the years they helped them.

Reading the story of The Golden Feathers I instantly thought of greed. Greed is an easy thing to obtain I feel nowadays. Just as the wife in the story, many are not grateful for what fortunes that come to them, and only when tragedy strikes is when they realize what they had. This can be written in many ways.

The story of Bayan was beautiful as well. I like how the deer was able to make to where all creatures lives were spared at the end. I feel this ties well with a story of protest. I am unsure what type of protest, but I feel that I could easily use details from this story. I have read many stories of people giving up something of their own so that they could help save a life of another. That relating to what Bayan did for the mother doe.

I want to try to incorporate a little from each story without making my own story confusing. I know this will be a challenge, but I feel after more readings it shouldn’t be that hard.
