Reading Notes: Guru Tegh Bahadur Part A

Reading Notes: Guru Tegh Bahadur

The main character like many in religious stories starts off with great knowledge, strength, and courage. However, I feel that he is just labeled with these things, even though he did win a battle. I want to write a story where the main character resembles this persona of being told what to do, and not really having a choice. Everyone being greedy to be the next Guru, and Tegh Bahadur becoming the chosen one is pretty predictable. I found it very interesting that his own nephew though shot him, so that he could be the potential next Guru. This story can be spun in many ways, but I like the idea of teammates on a team fighting to be the next MVP player. During the games everyone can try to foul the Guru and make it seem like it was his fault. They can also throw the ball at him with forceful power to where he cannot catch it, or just make him run up and down the field to make his life and likelihood to become the MVP difficult. His own nephew who can be on the team can plan a attack on him with the other players on the team, so that he gets jumped in the locker room. Once he finds out that his nephew knew that he was going to get jumped and did not tell him, the guru can forgive him on the note that his nephew would have been beat up if he told. I am not sure how I want to end the story, if I want to write a new ending or not, but if I go along with the story I can get the guru to be injured from the attack, which can then cause him to have to sit out for the rest of the season.

  1. Hi Marisha, what an interesting choice for the reading! The reason there was no Reading Guide link is because I only listed the ACK comic books that are really related in some way to the epics or the other ancient storytelling traditions, so please don't use this for your story this week, although I am glad you read it. Please choose one of the Ramayana comic books for this week; here is list of them all: Ramayana comic books. If you read a Ramayana comic book, you can use that for your storytelling this week! :-)
