Reading Notes: The Ramayana, Part C

Reading Notes 3

Rama is an interesting character. I could write a story where he is the main character and even though he is the villain in the Ramayana, he could actually be just a character in search of love. I want to focus more on the part where even though he catches Sita off guard, and is not liked by her, he still tries fairly hard to gain her trust and love. Since he is cursed, and cannot touch a woman unless she wants him, I want to make that the conflict in the story. Where eventually, since he defeats Jatayu, Sita will start to trust him, but since she is still married to Rama, Ravana cannot touch her.

Once Rama has met hanuman, the story seems to be a story of “if you help me, ill help you”. I want to make Rama some sort of underdog, maybe in a basket ball game. Where Sita is the cheerleader, and Rama is trying to get her attention. I am kind of confused how to use Sita’s jewelry into the story. (How she drops her jewelry from the sky to give clues to her husband of where Ravana is taking her).

Here is Sita dropping her jewerly for clues. Photo Credits: Indo Link

Hanuman is very brave and although I imagine him to be a small monkey, his passion that he has to find Sita for Rama is amazing. I could focus on that part of the story, and make it to where Hanuman is a younger brother of Ramas. Rama could one day get in trouble and go to jail for a murder that he did not commit. Hanuman then being noble to Rama, can go and search for the real killer, and try to set his brother free from jail.  The murder that Rama is framed for could be Sita, his wife. Along the way Hanuman meets, a friend named Sampathi, who can show Hanuman clues as to who really killed Sita.
